I hear you Catherine Hugs Lewis First, as I mentioned in other replies this articles is not addressing victims of abuse but people who “play the victim.”

Either way, to your example, there are many people who suffered from different kind of events during their childhood or teenage years. I’ve seen a lot of people reframe how their brain process the world and overcome the suffering. As neuroplasticity has shown, the brain is a muscle that can be trained and rewired. Is not easy though. It requires time, courage, and effort. But it’s possible.

Sorry if you think I’m oversimplifying it, but I disagree. Here’s a video I used a lot working with teams. Nick Vujicic is a great example of someone who was born under conditions that most us would have failed to overcome.
